Its commanding face combines prominent rounded eyes and an open mouth with an elaborate headdress. Two opposed stylised reptiles crown the composition, a powerful visual vocabulary associated with rank, protection and royal authority in Grassfields prestige art.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eCasting and surface\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe mask was produced in copper alloy using the lost-wax process. The reverse retains the irregular structure of individual casting and incorporates a suspension loop for wall display.
