Antique Tibetan bronze Manjushri statue with residual gilding lot 170

This antique Tibetan bronze statue depicts Manjushri, the bodhisattva of wisdom and insight. He is shown holding the flaming sword that cuts through ignorance and the Book of Wisdom, symbols within Buddhism that represent clarity, knowledge, and spiritual power. The serene posture and refined details give the statue a strong, contemplative presence.

The statue is traditionally crafted using the lost-wax technique and shows clear traces of original gilding in protected areas. Natural wear, subtle oxidation, and hand-engraved decorations support its historical age and artisanal character. The interior reveals an old casting structure consistent with pre-industrial Himalayan workshops.

Due to the combination of iconography, size, and authentic aging, this is a remarkable object that is strongly present both spiritually and visually. Manjushri statues of this quality and appearance are offered less frequently and are prized by collectors seeking genuine Himalayan art with character and depth. Dimensions: H 32 cm × W 23 cm — Weight: approx. 4 kg.

Each object is examined before it is offered: material, casting or carving technique, surface, and signs of age are compared with documented references. You will receive a certificate of authenticity and an official invoice detailing the period, material, and available provenance.
