Rare Himalayan Buddha with Silver-plated Finish
Price: €2,250
This unique Buddha statue is an object for lovers of authentic Himalayan art, ancient metalwork, and statues with a strong presence. The combination of the warm brass-colored base and the partially preserved silver plating creates an appearance that immediately sets it apart from standard bronze Buddha statues.
Natural wear on the highest parts of the statue creates a subtle contrast between silver and gold tones. It is precisely this combination that gives the surface depth, character, and a look that only arises from prolonged use and aging.
The Buddha is depicted in the Bhumisparsha Mudra, the posture in which the earth is called to witness enlightenment. Within Buddhism, this mudra symbolizes steadfastness, inner strength, and overcoming obstacles. As a result, this depiction is one of the most beloved and recognizable Buddha representations.
The statue is composed of separate parts. The Buddha and the lotus throne were crafted separately and then assembled into one piece. Traces of this traditional construction method, a technique frequently found in older Himalayan and Tibetan altar statues, are still visible on the underside.
The refined fingers, the serene facial expression, the almond-shaped eyes, and the carefully constructed lotus throne demonstrate the craftsmanship of the maker. Together with the silver-plated finish, these details give the statue a calm, dignified, and timeless appearance.
With a height of 29 cm and a weight of 3.5 kg, the statue has a solid presence without appearing massive. This makes it particularly suitable as a central object on an altar, in a meditation room, or as an important piece within a collection of Himalayan art.
