Fire-gilded bronze figure of Brahma, seated in lalitasana on a lotus carried by three elephants. Four faces, four arms, tiered crown. One raised hand holds a pointed attribute; the other hands are open or rest on knee and lap.
India, late 19th century, circa 1850–1900. Hollow cast. The fire gilding remains in the folds, the jewellery and the crown; on the high points it has worn away. Base open, with casting core. Not an 18th-century piece and not a recent decorative casting.
