This bronze Buddha depicts Shakyamuni in Dhyana mudra, seated in a meditation posture with a patra (alms bowl) in both hands. The statue is modeled in a sober and powerful manner, featuring a calm facial expression, elongated earlobes, and a simply executed monk's robe.
The statue is hollow cast using the traditional lost-wax technique. The underside was originally closed and was broken open in the past, revealing remnants of the original earth's core. The interior shows natural multi-layered corrosion and mineral deposits, consistent with prolonged age and ritual use. There are no modern materials or later interventions present.
In protected zones, particularly around the eyes and in recessed details, remnants of original fire gilding are visible. Excellent parts such as shoulders, hair, and face show smooth wear from prolonged devotional touch.
The whole points to an authentic Himalayan temple statue from the 17th century, manufactured in a regional Northwest Himalayan workshop.
