A large statue of a kneeling monk in Burmese style, approx. 87 cm in length and weighing 20 kg. The monk kneels and leans forward on his forearms, head bowed low and hands brought together before him with open palms: a posture of humble veneration.
The head, arms and feet are painted white; the face has finely drawn eyes and a calm, lowered gaze. The lower body is covered by a black-lacquered robe. A gilded cloth lies over the shoulders, decorated with scrolls and inlaid with green glass pieces, and the hem of the robe is likewise gilded and inlaid with glass.
Good condition. There are minor signs of use, such as fine hairlines near the shoulders and in the paint layer and a few spots of damaged paint or gilding; please see the detail photos.
