A unique and instantly recognizable ritual statue, in which multiple elements come together that are rarely found complete anymore. This seated Amitabha Buddha is crafted in bronze and partially fire-gilded, showing clear wear consistent with prolonged use in a religious context. What distinguishes this piece is the combination of the original, cast-in stupa in the hand and the crystal sphere present, which together refer to meditation, enlightenment, and ritual offering.
The gilding shows natural aging: on the protruding parts, the gold has partially disappeared, while it remains visible in the deeper zones. This pattern is not artificial, but the result of centuries of touching, cleaning, and use. The dark zones on the body and face show a stable, old patina with subtle color variations and light oxidation spots.
The statue is also technically sound: the underside displays an old, open structure with natural oxidation and no modern closure. The proportions, the soft facial expression, and the way the lines of the robe are rendered are consistent with Himalayan workshops, likely Nepal or the immediate region.
An important detail is that the stupa is not a separate addition, but an integral part of the casting process. This makes it not a decorative object, but a deliberately composed ritual image. In combination with the crystal, this suggests use within a meditative or ceremonial setting.
This is not a standard Buddha, but an object with substance, signs of use, and a clear spiritual function — exactly the type of piece collectors seek when they want something with character and a story.
