This seated Avalokiteshvara is crafted in bronze and originates from the Tibetan Himalayan tradition. The bodhisattva is depicted in a serene lotus position on a richly modeled lotus base, with an openwork halo behind the head. The crown, jewelry, and elegant body shape are characteristic of Avalokiteshvara, the embodiment of compassion within Mahayana Buddhism.
The statue displays a natural, dark patinated skin with traces of age and ritual use. The finish and proportions suggest a religious object intended for devotion, not decoration. The combination of lotus seat, halo, and iconography clearly places this image within the Tibetan or Nepalese Buddhist tradition, presumably from the 18th or 19th century.
A powerful and restrained altar image with a clear spiritual aura, suitable for both collectors and practitioners.
