Thai Buddha in bronze lot 185

Estimated value: €1,200 – €1,300

This bronze Buddha statue immediately radiates peace and balance. The posture, the gentle facial expression, and the flowing lines give the statue a calm, almost timeless presence that you normally only see in older temple pieces.

What makes this statue special is the combination of refined form and visible signs of wear. In several places, the original gold layer is still clearly present, which over the years has become partially covered by a natural, dark patina. This only occurs with prolonged exposure and use, and gives the statue precisely that deep, warm appearance that collectors seek.

The wear is logical and consistent: higher areas have become smoother, while in the deeper zones the older layers have been preserved. This is reflected in the face, the body, and the folds of the robe. The underside also displays an old, irregular structure consistent with traditional casting and prolonged aging.

The whole feels sturdy, balanced, and authentic. Not a sleek or “new” surface, but a living object with character that has clearly built up a history.

This is not a mass-produced decorative item, but a sculpture with presence – something you place down and feel immediately. Perfect for the home, on an altar, or as a centerpiece in a quiet space.
