Vintage Lacquer Box with Caravan Scene – Hand-Painted

Vintage lacquer box with hand-painted caravan scene

A long rectangular vintage lacquer box decorated with a lively hand-painted scene of travellers and pack animals moving in caravan. The narrative composition stretches across the lid, standing out vividly against the deep black exterior and the contrasting red lacquer interior.

The box has a fully removable lid and an unusually slender format. Its combination of black lacquer, red interior and miniature-style figurative painting gives it a distinctive decorative character and makes it an appealing small collectible.
