We proudly present an exceptionally broad and powerfully modeled piece of primitive and tribal art: an original antique hand-carved wooden shaman mask from the Himalayan region (Nepal / Bhutan border region). This ritual collectible dates from the late 19th to early 20th century (ca. 1890-1920) and is in sublime, unrestored condition. Thanks to its immense age, all moisture has completely disappeared from the wood cells, which explains the light weight of 600 grams.

Robust Structure & Carved Iconography

This mask distinguishes itself by its unique, almost square proportions and brings a raw, untamed atmosphere to any high-end or modern interior:

• Geometric Lip Contours: Around the carved-open mouth cavity, the master carver has carved a razor-sharp, double-leaf-shaped contour line deep into the wood. This gives the mask an intriguing, stylized smile. The nose is heavy, flat, and solidly aligned.
• Fibrous "Pitting" Skin: The entire front displays the pure biology of old hardwood. The surface is full of natural pitting, drying cracks on the forehead, and a layered, dark patina of burned-in temple soot and ambient air.
• Original Mounting Remnants: On the sides are the authentic, hand-drilled holes in which the historical, weathered carrying cords are still partially present. This proves the active, ritual usage history of the guardian.
