Marked Antique Chinese Pewter Travel Set – Yan Yongli (Chaoyang) – Approx. 1920 – 2-piece

Retail price: € 495.–

Offered is an extremely rare, museum-quality two-piece Chinese travel set from the early 20th century (Republic period). This high-quality set consists of a ritual teapot with an elegantly shaped spout and a matching tea caddy / thermal cup with a tight-fitting lid.

Both objects are crafted from heavy, patinated pewter and rest on subtly stylized feet. The absolute eye-catcher is the delicate, hand-painted panels behind glass, which depict detailed scenes of court ladies (meiren) in a traditional Chinese palace garden. The sides of the objects feature a magnificent, cast-in relief decoration depicting a traditional flower vase with plum blossoms and various precious objects (Antiquities), framed by a refined meander border.

Certified Hallmark: The underside features the original, deeply stamped four-character maker's mark "潮陽 顏永利" (Chaoyang Yan Yongli). This hallmark immediately identifies the ensemble as an authentic and sought-after masterpiece from the famous Yan Yongli pewter workshop in the Chaoyang region (Guangdong).

The combination of the robust, patinated metal, the rare signature, and the delicate, colorful artwork gives this duo an extraordinarily exclusive appearance. A rare collector's item that is both historically consistent and aesthetically perfectly suited to a high-end, worldly Wabi-Sabi interior.
