Antique Tibetan Bronze Statue of Je Tsongkhapa – 28 cm – 2.2 kg
This imposing bronze statue depicts Je Tsongkhapa (1357–1419), the founder of the Gelug tradition within Tibetan Buddhism. Weighing 2.2 kg, this is an exceptionally heavy and high-quality casting. The master is depicted in the Dharmachakra Mudra, seated on a double lotus throne.
Artisan Engraving
This piece is distinguished by its refined, handcrafted finish. The patterns on the robe are deeply carved into the metal after the casting process, creating a beautiful texture and depth. On either side of the shoulders are lotus flowers bearing the sword and the book of wisdom, the classical attributes of Tsongkhapa as the incarnation of Manjushri.
Authentic Condition
The bronze shows natural, dark oxidation on the hands and face, which underscores its age and historical use. The massive construction and detailed engraving make this a masterpiece for collectors of Buddhist art from the Himalayan region.
