This antique bronze statue depicts a dancing Ganesha with six arms, executed as a powerful and expressive temple image. The dynamic posture, the pronounced elephant head, and the ritual attributes point to a clear religious function within the Hindu tradition, where Ganesha represents protection, abundance, and the removal of obstacles.
Under microscopic examination, clear remnants of original fire gilding are visible. The gold is recessed into the surface and alternates with natural wear on the raised areas, a pattern found exclusively in authentic, older statues. The patina is complex and layered, with reddish-brown cuprite, dark oxidation, and mineral deposits indicating long-term natural aging.
The casting quality is high and reveals a traditional lost-wax technique: hand-modeled details, subtle asymmetry, and visible toolmarks confirm artisanal craftsmanship. The open underside shows old corrosion and no indication whatsoever of modern interventions or recent finishing.
The statue has a clear presence and weight for its size and fits stylistically within Southeast Asian temple art. The combination of form, patina, remnants of fire gilding, and microscopic surface makes this a convincing antique ritual statue.
