Ganesha in Lalitasana – fire-gilded bronze temple statue
This impressive Ganesha statue is crafted from fire-gilded bronze, which has been clearly confirmed under microscopic examination. remnants of gold are visible in the deeper parts of the surface, with natural wear on the higher parts. The combination of this wear and the way the gold is embedded in the metal is characteristic of authentic fire-gilding and excludes modern finishes.
Additionally, the surface displays a deep, layered patina with dark and green oxidation that has developed within the metal. This behavior is typical of a copper-rich alloy (bronze) and confirms that this is not brass, but a high-quality, traditional material.

Fully handcrafted
The statue is finished entirely by hand. This is visible in the variation of engravings and details across the entire surface. Star and floral motifs have been applied to the hands and feet, and hard-to-reach areas have also been carefully worked. This level of finish indicates an artisanal approach without mass production. The base is fully elaborated all around with lotus and kalasha symbolism, among others. It is striking that the back is also raised and fully worked, confirming that the statue was not made as a decorative object, but as a full-fledged ritual image.
Symbolicism
Ganesha is depicted in lalitasana, a relaxed yet powerful pose. A trishula (trident) is visible on the forehead, combined with geometric symbolism referring to a tantric context. The rat (vahana) at the base emphasizes its role as a remover of obstacles and a bringer of prosperity.
