This monumental seated Buddha from Ladakh is an exceptionally heavy and powerful temple statue, crafted in fire-gilded bronze with remnants of original gilding in deep zones and folds. The serene expression, broad shoulders, and massive lotus base give the statue a strong spiritual presence typical of 18th-century Himalayan workshops.
The sculpture was traditionally cast using the lost-wax technique and displays natural wear and an aged patina, consistent with prolonged ritual use. The combination of size, weight, and serene modeling makes this not a decorative object but a serious religious statue, intended for a temple or monastery setting.
Due to its impressive size of 87 cm in height and approximately 41 kg, this piece is one of the larger Ladakhi bronzes that rarely appear on the market. The subtle remnants of fire gilding enhance the depth of the surface and give the sculpture a warm, lively appearance.
