This hand-carved wooden mask from Nepal has a strikingly elongated shape that gives the face a powerful and almost serene appearance. The narrow eyes are carved out as small openings, while the long, straight nose and the oval mouth opening define the mask's central character. These simple yet clear forms create a highly expressive face.

The mask is carved from a single piece of wood. Clear traces of the carving tool are still visible on the surface, ensuring the handiwork remains clearly recognizable. Over the years, the dark wood has developed a natural patina with slight color variations and a matte sheen that gives the object extra depth.

Simple cords are attached to the sides, which originally allowed the mask to be worn or hung. The slight curvature of the wood follows the natural shape of the trunk from which the mask was carved, giving the whole piece an organic character.
