The beckoning patron of merchants
In Thai tradition, Nang Kwak welcomes customers and commercial good fortune with a beckoning right hand. Here, the gesture is paired with a small object in the left hand and an inscription in Thai on the pedestal.
Lost-wax casting
The bronze retains part of its original clay casting core underneath the base. The surface combines a deep dark patina with green copper oxidation, isolated traces of gilding and preserved red pigment on the lips.
Surface and condition
The robe and flared pedestal are densely incised with geometric ornament. Age-related wear, surface corrosion, casting irregularities and small historic losses remain visible throughout.
Each object is examined before it is offered: material, casting or carving technique, surface, and signs of age are compared with documented references. You will receive a certificate of authenticity and an official invoice detailing the period, material, and available provenance.
