Infinite Life & Vital Energy
Symbolism & Spiritual Essence
This characterful vintage sculpture represents Amitayus, revered in the Buddhist tradition as the cosmic Buddha of Infinite Life, boundless wisdom, and vital energy. As a guide on the path to enlightenment, Amitayus symbolizes the overcoming of spiritual obstacles and the cultivation of a long, harmonious life.
In his lap, resting in the meditative posture (padmasana), he holds the iconic Kalasha. This sacred vase of life contains the divine elixir (amrita) which represents the inexhaustible flow of wisdom, prosperity, and spiritual longevity. The object exudes a deep tranquility and monumental focus, perfect for creating a serene centerpiece in a meditative or high-quality interior setting.
Decorative Craftsmanship & Patina
The statue is executed in an expressive Chinese-Nepalese style, adorned in the traditional, rich attire of a Bodhisattva. The finely detailed five-leaf crown, the stylized ear ornaments, and the flowing lines of the robe attest to a recognizable decorative craftsmanship from the late 20th century.
The sculpture possesses a striking, two-tone aesthetic. The deep gold-colored brass base contrasts beautifully with the manually accentuated verdigris patina (green oxidation look). This layering enhances the expression of the casting, bringing Amitayus' plastic details and serene facial expression to life in a fascinating way under changing light.
