A powerful and authentic Chinese bronze Buddha statue from the Qing period (19th century), executed in a seated posture with the right hand in Vitarka mudra (teaching gesture). The statue exudes tranquility and simplicity, with a gentle facial expression and a classic, timeless design characteristic of late Imperial Chinese work.
The statue was traditionally cast using the lost-wax technique and has a completely closed base. Original casting core residues are present inside, indicating a pre-industrial production method. The inner wall shows natural oxidation and mineralization, further supporting its age and authenticity.
Clear traces of wear and use are visible on the surface, including fine micro-corrosion and remnants of original fire gilding in protected zones. This gilding has largely disappeared over time, but remains visible in deeper parts of the robe and the structure.
On the head, there is an old lacquer/wax mark with visible stamp impressions. The impression is partially distorted, making the characters not fully legible, but it is a historically applied mark possibly related to transport, trade, or subsequent processing.
An honest and technically substantiated example of an authentic Chinese Buddha statue, with clear traces of age, use, and traditional craftsmanship.
