Antique bronze Buddha statue, depicting Shakyamuni Buddha in a meditation posture with the hands in dharmachakra mudra (teaching the doctrine). The statue is traditionally cast and placed on an openwork base with figurative details, a motif frequently found in older Asian Buddhist sculpture. The surface displays a natural, deeply developed patina with wear and oxidation consistent with longevity. The back and underside show clear traces of manual craftsmanship and use.
