This antique Thai Buddha statue is cast in bronze and depicts the Buddha seated in the Bhumisparsha mudra, the moment of enlightenment where the earth is called to witness. Dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, the statue has a serene, balanced appearance characteristic of Thai bronzes from this period.
The bronze exhibits a natural, deeply accumulated patina with slight wear on the prominent areas, consistent with age and long-term presence. The base is hand-sealed and shows a rough inner structure, indicating traditional casting techniques and ruling out modern production. Its weight and proportions give the statue a solid, understated presence without appearing heavy or massive.
This type of Buddha statue was traditionally placed in home shrines or temple environments and is associated with inner stability, determination, and protection. Due to its size, the statue is suitable as a central object in a space focusing on tranquility and meaning.
