Old Chinese bronze Shakyamuni Buddha

This old Shakyamuni Buddha is crafted in bronze and depicts the historical Buddha seated in a meditation posture with the begging bowl in his hand. The statue measures approximately 21 cm high and 12 cm wide and weighs about 2.2 kg, creating a solid and high-quality impression despite its compact size.

The design is calm and balanced, featuring a gentle facial expression, closed eyes, and regularly styled locks of hair. The folds of the robe are fluidly executed and follow the body naturally. A closing plate is present at the bottom, revealing a white, sandy core filling. This construction is characteristic of Chinese bronze work from the first half of the 20th century.
