Important Antique Tibetan Tsongkhapa Statue – 18th/19th Century

This important bronze sculpture depicts Je Tsongkhapa (1357–1419), the great reformer and founder of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. Dating from the 18th to the 19th century, this piece is a prime example of the "lost-wax" casting technique and represents the artistic peak of Himalayan bronze production.

Spiritual Significance: Why this statue?

In the Tibetan tradition, Je Tsongkhapa is revered as the embodiment of Manjushri, the Buddha of Wisdom. For the owner, this statue is more than art; it is an instrument for mental clarity:

  • Cutting Through Ignorance: The sword (Khadga) sprouting from the lotus symbolizes the resolute destruction of doubt, fear, and mental blockages.
  • Path to Insight: The manuscript (Prajnaparamita) represents the highest wisdom. This statue is traditionally placed in spaces where focus, study, and intellectual growth are central.
  • Energy of 200 Years of Devotion: Thanks to its dating from the 18th/19th century, this object carries the "gentle" energy of generations of prayers and ritual use, something a new statue can never equal.
  • Forensic Audit & Technical Dossier

At 1stbuddha.nl we offer strict technical validation for our masterpieces based on raw data:

    • Archaic Casting: With a height of 15.5 cm and a weight of 612 grams, this sculpture exhibits an incredibly advanced thin-walled casting. The interior reveals a dense, dark oxidation characteristic of an 18th or 19th-century origin.
    • Microscopic Analysis: Dino-Lite sculptures confirm manual chasing of the highest order. The floral motifs on the robes are meticulously engraved into the cold bronze. Authentic wear on the "Yellow Hat" shows natural metal rounding from nearly two centuries of veneration.
