Forensic Analysis & Evidence

  • Engraved Symbolism: The reverse side of the robe features complex, hand-engraved cloud and flame motifs, characteristic of Ladakh iconography.
  • Mineral Crystallization: White sand minerals and traces of ritual ash are visible in the deep grooves of the engravings and along the seams. This mineral composition is the result of a natural aging process spanning over 250 years.
  • Fire gilding: Remnants of the original fire gilding are specifically present in the protected parts of the engravings. The raised areas show authentic mechanical wear.
  • Construction: The statue was manufactured using segment casting, with clear oxidation visible around the historical seams.
  • Ritual Content: The interior was originally ritually sealed and contains only historical sand minerals without modern materials.

Iconography

The Bodhisattva is depicted in Namaskara Mudra (prayer posture), a symbol of devotion and reverence. The refined crown and the engravings on the back make this object an important spiritual heritage from the West Tibetan region.

Supplied including official appraisal report and forensic file of the internal and external analyses.
