Antique Naga Bronze Khmer Buddha Mucalinda – 2.2 kg
This impressive bronze statue of the Buddha Mucalinda is distinguished by its extraordinary mass and weight. At 2.2 kg of solid bronze, this is a rare heavy casting for a statue 22 cm high. The Buddha is depicted in deep meditation (Dhyana Mudra), seated on the naga king who spreads his seven heads like a protective shield.
Exceptional Casting Quality
The weight confirms the use of a high-quality metal alloy with a significant copper content. The back of the naga hood is decorated with extreme precision with a scale motif and a central sun wheel, which is characteristic of the refined Khmer art from the Bayon tradition.
Forensic Details & Patina
The inside of the base shows authentic traces of mineralization and deep copper oxidation (malachite green). This natural weathering, combined with the manual finishing of the facial features and the conical crown, makes this object a masterpiece for the serious collector of Southeast Asian antiquities.
