Iconography & Analysis
This sculpture depicts a high-ranking Lama, seated in Dhyana Asana on a double lotus base. The lama is flanked by two lotuses bearing the attributes of Manjushri: the flaming sword (Kharga) on the right and the book (Prajnaparamita-sutra) on the left. The craftsmanship points to the renowned Newar casters from the Kathmandu Valley, who established the highest standard in Tibetan bronze culture in the 18th century. The deep, weathered patina and the historically open base provide an honest and impressive view of the massive casting structure. Collector's value This object distinguishes itself through the combination of specific iconography and the raw quality of the metal. A tangible piece of Tibetan history for the serious collection.
