Hand-painted Padmasambhava Mandala Thangka
Guide price / appraised value: €300 – €600
This hand-painted thangka depicts Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche, centered within a richly detailed mandala. Within Tibetan Buddhism, Padmasambhava is revered as the great master who brought Buddhist teachings to Tibet and is regarded as a powerful figure of protection, wisdom, and spiritual transformation. The mandala is constructed around a geometric palace with four gates, surrounded by concentric circles, lotus motifs, protective forms, and multiple Buddhist figures. Due to its symmetrical structure, this work is not only highly decorative but also particularly suitable for meditation, contemplation, and a peaceful spiritual space. The image is hand-painted on prepared textile and features fine details in the figures, halos, and decorative borders. The gold-colored accents give the thangka a warm and ritual appearance. The work is framed behind glass, ensuring the canvas remains well protected. The soft patina, light craquelé, and signs of age give the object character without disturbing the readability of the image.
A meaningful object for lovers of Tibetan art, Buddhist symbolism, and spiritual wall decoration with substance.
