This 19th-century Chinese bronze Buddha statue depicts a seated Buddha in a meditative pose on an elaborately decorated base featuring two dragons. The Buddha is portrayed with a full, relaxed physique and open hands resting on his knees, dressed in traditional monastic robes with the right side of his chest partially visible.

The base is adorned with dragons flanking a central emblem, a motif in Chinese Buddhist art symbolizing protection, strength, and cosmic order. The combination of Buddha and a dragon base is typical of Chinese depictions and clearly distinguishes this statue from South Asian or Southeast Asian Buddhas.

The statue is traditionally cast in a copper alloy or bronze. The closed underside reveals old core remnants and irregularities consistent with pre-industrial casting techniques. The dark patina and wear on prominent areas are consistent with natural aging and prolonged use.
