Antique Burmese Kinnara – Mythological Dancer – 112 cm

This monumental sculpture depicts a Kinnara, a celestial being from Burmese mythology that is half human and half bird. The Kinnara symbolizes universal love, fidelity, and the beauty of the arts. This statue is a beautiful example of Burmese woodcarving from the early 20th century.

Refined Decoration and Craftsmanship

The statue is hand-carved from solid tropical hardwood. The costume is richly decorated using the traditional 'hman-zi shwe-cha' technique: a combination of refined gilding and inlaid glass pieces that beautifully catch the light. The elegant posture and serene facial expression give the statue a timeless, spiritual aura.

A Unique Statement Piece

With a height of no less than 112 cm, this statue is an impressive object for any interior. The dynamic lines of the wings and the traditional headdress bear witness to the high quality of Burmese craftsmanship. The statue is in very good vintage condition with an authentic patina befitting its age.
