This hand-signed traditional Naruko Kokeshi is crafted from solid Mizuki wood (dogwood) and belongs to the classic Naruko school from Miyagi Prefecture in the Tohoku region of Japan. The statue dates from the Middle Showa period (approx. 1965-1980) and was entirely turned and painted by hand by the renowned Kokeshi master Tomohiro Kakizaki. With a height of 30.5 cm, this piece is one of the larger and more sought-after collector sizes within the world of traditional Dento Kokeshi. The austere decoration with red bands and the refined face give the statue a timeless elegance.
