This impressive standing Buddha is sculpted as Phra Leela, the walking Buddha. The pose is inspired by the classic Thai Sukhothai style, recognizable by the elegant body lines, the calm facial expression, and the flame-shaped ushnisha on top of the head. The raised left hand is in Abhaya Mudra, the gesture of protection, reassurance, and fearlessness. The statue is handmade on Java, Indonesia, by experienced bronze founders in the Trowulan region. It was cast using the traditional lost-wax technique. The hollow base still shows dry sand and clay residue from the original casting core, consistent with this artisanal production method. The dark bronze-colored patina is even, sleek, and silky. This is not an antique temple statue, but a high-quality vintage replica from the late 20th century, likely the 80s/90s.
