Monumental Antique Fire-Gilded Bronze Shakyamuni Buddha Statue – Kasaya Rice Field Robe – 18th Century – 69 cm / 27.00 kg

Specifications: 69 cm high | 54 cm wide | 27.00 kg (Extremely heavy, monumental temple casting)

This monumental antique bronze Shakyamuni Buddha statue is a powerful Tibetan / Himalayan monastic object of exceptional, palatial scale. With a massive and impressive weight of no less than 27.00 kilos and a height of 69 cm, this sculpture represents a thick-walled temple commission of the very highest category. The Buddha is depicted in Abhaya mudra: the raised right hand as a sign of protection, reassurance, and the removal of fear.

Why buy this monumental masterpiece? (Function & Protection)

Due to its enormous scale and layered history, this colossal bronze is specially designed to anchor an unwavering atmosphere of spiritual safety, abundance, and stability in high-end interiors, entrances, or meditation rooms:

  • The Shield of Fearlessness: The Abhaya mudra stands for inner peace, trust, and spiritual safety. It is an attitude that literally says: "do not be afraid". It functions as a powerful energetic shield that drives negativity and external obstacles from the entire space.
  • The Spiritual Harvest (The Kasaya Robe): The reverse side shows the traditional Tibetan Kasaya monk's robe, hand-engraved in a geometric rice field pattern. This symbolizes the "field of merit": spiritual nourishment, discipline, wisdom, and the harvesting of good karma and abundance.
  • Traditional Offering Architecture: The left hand rests open in the lap in the meditative Dhyana mudra. This hand is deliberately cast horizontally and open to historically carry a loose, heavy metal vase of life (kalasha) or begging bowl during ceremonies. This loose procedure proves the uncompromising monastic quality.

Microscopic Evidence of Ancient Devotion & Fire Gilding

The deep, golden-brown temple skin reveals the character of an intensely lived-in and worshipped monastic object, where microscopic examination irrefutably proves its pure pre-industrial authenticity:

  • Hidden Gold Islands: Deep beneath the folds of the cloak — in places that have completely escaped the monks' centuries-long ritual polishing — lie thick, layered islands of the original fire gilding (gold amalgam). This 24-karat gold is overgrown with a legitimate, petrified crust of centuries-old temple soot and incense ash.
  • Sharp Craftsmanship Traces: The casting skin shows the original, palpably sharp manual scraping and filing marks of the master caster himself. These marks were carved into the metal at the time when the rough casting skin was manually chipped away, proving that the sculpture was never 'polished smooth' by modern or mechanical means.
  • Geometric Wax Plate Structure: The open bottom reveals the original wax plates of the old cire perdue process, pressed into the mold by hand. The interior shows the deeply blackened casting channel and the original mineral deposits and white veils from the borax flux.
