Museum Quality Antique Fire-Gilded Bronze Amitayus Altar Statue – Mustang Kingdom – 15th-17th Century – 35 cm / 5.40 kg

Specifications: 35 cm high | 27 cm wide | Weight: 5.40 kg (Extremely heavy, thick-walled mountain casting with original clay core) An absolute, archaeological, and museum-worthy antique bronze altar sculpture of Amitayus (the Buddha of Infinite Life), masterfully cast in the Trans-Himalayan region of the legendary, independent Buddhist Kingdom of Mustang (Lo). Dating from the 15th to 17th centuries, this masterpiece embodies the pure, brute force of the Pala Renaissance. Weighing a staggering 5.40 kg at a height of 35 cm, this is an exceptionally thick-walled, monastic casting with fabulous, unrestored integrity.

The Energy of Health, Longevity & Spiritual Abundance

This heavy, ritual mountain bronze is designed to bring a powerful atmosphere of spiritual grounding, vital life energy, and unwavering protection into a high-end space or private collection:

  • The Sacred Kalasha (Vase of Life): Amitayus is depicted seated in the lotus position (Dhyanasana) with his hands resting in the meditative Dhyana mudra. In his palms, he holds the base of the sacred Kalasha, the vase filled with the elixir of immortality. This symbol activates energies of a long, healthy life and spiritual wealth. Archaic Leaf Crown (Prabhamandala): The Buddha is enthroned beneath a monumental, diamond-shaped halo of dense leaves and large lotus flowers. This powerful, vegetative visual language harks back directly to medieval Indian Pala art, here cast in a beautiful and fleshy form without later cold engravings. The Lion Pedestal (Simhasana): The statue rests on a heavy, stepped architectural pedestal. At the front hangs a beautiful, wide ceremonial altar cloth folded over the edge, featuring original fire-gilded remnants.

Forensic Metal Biological Analysis & Material Study

The surface, the face, and the open underside all provide irrefutable scientific evidence of pure pre-industrial age:

  • Fossilized Orange Iron Clay Core: The open underside of the lion throne shows the original casting core that remained deep within the central cavity. This is a bone-dry, rock-hard fired mass of iron-rich river clay from the Kali Gandaki Valley. This heavy core and the thick bronze wall explain the massive weight of 5.40 kg.
  • Thick Gold-Amalgam Skin on Cinnabar (Hingabar): Microscopic Dino-Lite research reveals that the gold has been fired as a thick, fleshy layer directly onto a traditional red cinnabar base. The gold surface shows the original, parallel agate polishing scratches. The convex parts show legitimate devotional wear from generations of tender hand contact.
  • Mineralized Crystal Veils: Over the entire crown of hair, folds, and halo lies a web of microscopically fine, white and soft pink calcite and borax crystals that have sweated out of the metal over the course of centuries. The deep trenches are filled with bone-dry, petrified temple soot.
