This old Shakyamuni Buddha, crafted in bronze, depicts the historical Buddha seated in a meditative posture holding an alms bowl. The statue measures approximately 21 cm high and 12 cm wide, and weighs about 2.2 kg, giving it a solid and high-quality feel despite its compact size.
The design is serene and balanced, with a gentle facial expression, closed eyes, and regularly sculpted locks of hair. The folds of the robe are fluidly executed and naturally follow the body. A sealing plate is present at the bottom, revealing a white, sand-like core filling. This construction is characteristic of Chinese bronzes from the first half of the 20th century.
