This set of two Satsuma-style vases is crafted in fine ceramics and richly hand-painted with traditional Japanese motifs. The decorations depict figures in ceremonial attire, combined with floral motifs, gold accents, and relief details in the moriage technique, characteristic of Satsuma work from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The vases are intended as a symmetrical set and feature continuous scenes all around, carefully constructed with enameled colors, gold paint, and raised details. The handles are plastically shaped and integrated into the design, contributing to the objects' sculptural character. The base bears a Japanese signature, consistent with export and studio work from this period.
Satsuma-style vases were originally manufactured for both the Japanese elite and the international market and are known for their refined finish and narrative decorations. This set is highly decorative, yet clearly retains its artisanal and historical character. A characterful set for lovers of Japanese ceramics, Asian art, and carefully executed craftsmanship. Height: approx. 24.4 cm per vase
