This bronze Buddha depicts Shakyamuni in Bhumisparsha mudra, the earth-touching gesture symbolizing enlightenment. The sculpture is depicted seated on a lotus base, with a serene facial expression, elongated earlobes, and a simply modeled monastic robe.

The sculpture is hollow cast in bronze using the traditional lost-wax technique. The underside was originally closed and has been broken open in the past. In the opening, remnants of the original core material are visible, along with natural oxidation and mineral deposits. This indicates pre-industrial manufacturing and prolonged ritual use. There are no modern materials, glues, or restorations present.

The surface shows an even, natural patina with smooth wear on prominent parts such as the hands, knees, and face. This wear is consistent with devotional use over a long period.

Based on casting technique, patina, design, and wear, this sculpture can be attributed to Burma (Myanmar) and dated to the 18th to 19th century. It is a functional temple image, not a decorative export object.
