Siam Bronze Buddha – Lot 165
This refined Siamese Buddha statue radiates tranquility and concentration. The Buddha sits in bhumisparsha mudra, the moment when he calls upon the earth as a witness to his enlightenment. This gesture symbolizes inner strength, victory, and determination.
The statue is crafted in bronze and still bears clear remnants of original fire gilding. The gold layer has worn off naturally on the higher parts, while it has been preserved in deeper zones. This creates a warm golden appearance combined with a dark, weathered patina.
The underside shows traditional clay filling and natural oxidation along the edge, consistent with older use. The slender flame ushnisha, the soft face, and the elegant proportions refer to the Siamese tradition from the 19th to early 20th centuries.
A compact yet powerful devotional statue originally intended for a home altar or smaller temple space. Ideal for those seeking an authentic, ancient, and spiritually charged object in an accessible size.
