Antique Gilded Thai Naga Buddha Statue – Muchalinda Protection – 19 cm
Retail price: € 495.–
An atmospheric and authentic Thai Buddha statue under the protection of the sacred Naga snake, executed in a traditional style with a rich gilded finish and deep age patina. The Buddha sits in a meditation posture on a high, stepped throne with red lacquer accents and finely crafted decorative bands.
Behind the statue rises the multi-headed Muchalinda-Naga, the mythical snake king who, according to Buddhist tradition, protected the meditating Buddha from storms and negativity. As a result, a Naga Buddha symbolizes protection, inner peace, spiritual strength, and stability during difficult periods.
The statue displays beautiful traces of age and devotional wear, with weathered gold lacquer, dark oxidation, and a warm, lived-in appearance that perfectly aligns with traditional Thai temple art from the first half of the 20th century. The combination of the powerful silhouette, the high throne, and the protective Naga makes this a particularly decorative and spiritual object for both the interior and a meditation or altar space.
